International GCSE Maths Formula Sheet
This maths formula sheet follows the formulae sheet printed in Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics A (4MA1) papers, split into Foundation and Higher, then lists the basic maths formulas that are not on the sheet, such as circle area, Pythagoras and the trigonometric ratios.
- 22 formulas
- 3 sections
- Checked 20 October 2026
On the formulae sheet: Foundation and Higher
Printed at the front of every 4MA1 paper. You must not write on the formulae page.
- Area of a trapezium (parallel sides a and b)
- Volume of a prism
- Volume of a cylinder
- Curved surface area of a cylinder
On the formulae sheet: Higher only
The Higher tier sheet adds these.
- Sum of an arithmetic series (n terms)
- Quadratic formula, for ax² + bx + c = 0 (a ≠ 0)
- Sine rule
- Cosine rule
- Area of a triangle
- Volume of a cone
- Curved surface area of a cone (slant height l)
- Volume of a sphere
- Surface area of a sphere
Not on the sheet: basic maths formulas to learn
These simple maths formulas are not printed in the paper, so learn them.
- Area of a triangle
- Area of a circle
- Circumference of a circle
- Pythagoras' theorem (c is the hypotenuse)
- Trigonometry in right-angled triangles
- Speed, distance and time
- Gradient of a straight line
- Equation of a straight line
- Probability of an event not happening
Based on the formulae sheets printed in Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics A (4MA1) papers (Higher, June 2023; Foundation, January 2023) (official source), checked 20 October 2026. Always check the formula list printed in your own exam paper.
